Employee Spotlight: Amrish Sawant

“What stands out to me about FLAG is that it doesn’t just support today’s leaders, it actively invests in tomorrow’s. It’s a clear sign that our long-term success is built on strong people as much as on strong technology.”

Could you share some insights into your background and how you came to join FLAG?

I have spent most of my career in Finance Operations, Transformation, ERP projects, and Business Intelligence. I enjoy solving business problems by improving people, processes, and technology. I joined FLAG about four years ago to lead Global Accounts Payable, attracted by the opportunity to work in a global organization undergoing significant transformation. It has been a rewarding journey of learning, contribution, and growth.

What motivates you in your role at FLAG, and how do you maintain your inspiration?

I am motivated by seeing ideas create real business value—whether through better processes, new systems, or stronger decisions using data. I stay inspired by learning, taking on new challenges, and working with talented colleagues across the organization.

Is there a specific project or achievement at FLAG that you are particularly proud of?

I am most proud of the ERP migration from SAP to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for FLAG and GCX. It was a complex program involving multiple teams, functions, and regions, while business operations continued. We delivered it within budget and the planned timeline through strong teamwork, creating a solid platform for future automation and digital transformation.

How do you approach challenges and overcome obstacles in your work?

I start by understanding the root cause rather than jumping to a solution. I then break the challenge into manageable parts, involve the right people, and maintain open communication. In transformation projects, staying calm, practical, and solution-focused helps move things forward.

Who has had the biggest impact on your journey at FLAG, and how have they influenced you?

I have been fortunate to learn from many people at FLAG. Brice Evin has influenced me through his strategic leadership and empowerment; Victor Silkin through his dedication and commitment to doing things well; Andy Pocock through his calmness in challenging situations; Sean Clark through his energy and positivity; Nishit Bangdiwala through his practical problem-solving; and Darpana Shelar through her resilience and determination. Each has shaped my approach to leadership and teamwork.

How has your role evolved since joining FLAG, and what are you currently learning or trying to improve?

My role has evolved from leading Global Accounts Payable to transformation projects, outsourcing initiatives, the SAP-to-Dynamics 365 migration, and now establishing and leading Business Intelligence. Working across these areas has broadened my understanding of the business and helped me develop new skills. I am now focused on strengthening my leadership, learning more about AI and advanced analytics, and building a BI function that enables faster, better decisions.

What advice would you offer to new employees or those striving to excel in their careers at FLAG?

Be curious, keep learning, and do not limit yourself to your job description. Take ownership, build relationships across teams, and step into unfamiliar areas. Focus consistently on solving problems and creating value, and opportunities will follow.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?

Most people know that I enjoy organizing team meetings focused on transformation, ERP, governance, and reporting, as well as sports and employee engagement activities. What they may be surprised to learn is how much I enjoy spending time in greenery and nature. I have set myself a personal goal of planting at least 500 trees by 2030.

What’s a small moment at FLAG that made a big impression on you?

The creation of the Extended Leaders Team made a lasting impression on me. It showed that FLAG values developing future leaders, not only supporting current ones. By investing in people with leadership potential, the initiative reinforced that long-term success comes from strong people as much as from strong processes and technology.
