Employee Spotlight: Shrinit Badiyani

“I love challenges and welcome them wholeheartedly; they’re my strongest teachers.”

Could you share some insights into your background and how you came to join FLAG?

I hold a full-time MBA in Finance from Mumbai and have had the opportunity to work with MNCs like Citibank and Audibene (Hear.com).

In my previous role at Hear.com, I worked on forecasting and cash planning for their US business, which gave me strong exposure to cross-border collaborations—something I continue to experience at FLAG.

Telecom was a new industry for me, and I was approached by the HR team through a job portal. I joined FLAG in January 2024, and it has been an exciting learning curve since.

What motivates you in your role at FLAG, and how do you maintain your inspiration?

I’ve always enjoyed discussing business. To simply put it, my role is about trying to foresee the future of our business in every way possible—which makes it quite fun.

The variety of work, the exposure, the involvement in senior-level strategy building, and the analytical nature of my role keep me motivated.

Not to miss, a lot of my work depends on data and reports, so I get to interact with people from different teams and functions across the globe.
If you don’t believe me, I found myself speaking with a Senior Legal Counsel from the UK a few days back — one of those “only at FLAG” moments!

Is there a specific project or achievement at FLAG that you are particularly proud of?

It won’t be fair to name just one, so I’d mention a few:

  • Giving near accurate monthly revenue forecasts
  • Representing the Budgeting team for the ERP transition we’re heading for
  • Submitting a project-level profitability analysis
  • (can’t share details, but we’re optimising our business potential)
  • Playing a part in organising some of our Finance Spirit events

How do you approach challenges and overcome obstacles in your work?

I love challenges and welcome them wholeheartedly—they’re my strongest teachers.

Obstacles are inevitable, so I usually try to:

  • Always have a Plan B (we call it scenario analysis in FP&A)
  • Keepbuffer time for deliverables—helps when you want to overthink the results and possibilities 😉
  • Keep learning new skills and gaining knowledge to avoid dependencies
  • Follow a DIY mantra—you’re often on your own, at work & in life… embrace that fact ASAP!

Are there any mentors or individuals who have had a significant impact on your career here?

A long list of supportive & impactful people!

Starting with my FP&A team—Anshika Bahedia for working along with me (and sometimes for me!) on some of FLAG’s forecasting tasks, Gabriela Kogut for being the cheerful teammate from the London office, and the FP&A Head, our captain cool Andy Pocock, for mentoring and supporting throughout.

A strong influence comes from our CFO and my super boss Brice Evin, who brings both a positive aura and sharp intellect, always helping us focus on logic while analysing profitability.

I’ve also always received support from Victor Silkin & his team here in India on my monthly deliverables and from Brad Kneller & his team as well as Nadya Melic while working on special projects.

The list would be incomplete without Sushil Patil, Caroline Jones, and Paul Abfalter for supporting me on my first—and now recurring—task here: the FLAG monthly revenue forecast. Thank you all!

What advice would you offer to new employees or those striving to excel in their careers at FLAG?

Learn to adapt, stay cool, communicate clearly & things will go smooth for you here.
