From Mumbai to the Middle East: Carl Grivner on FLAG’s subsea expansion

FLAG Is Expanding the Future of Subsea Connectivity

In a recent interview with Capacity – a techoraco brand, FLAG CEO Carl Grivner shares why the foundations for FLAG’s next phase of growth are firmly in place and why the focus is now on execution.

Subsea infrastructure remains the backbone of global connectivity. Through targeted investment across the Pacific, India, the Middle East and Asia, FLAG is building the scale and resilience needed to support rising demand from cloud, content and enterprise customers, while aligning with the emergence of new data centre hubs.

The conversation also highlights the importance of integration. Subsea cables deliver real value only when seamlessly connected to terrestrial networks, carrier neutral landing stations and data centre ecosystems, with power availability increasingly dictating where new routes are built. This route rich approach sits at the heart of FLAG’s newly launched Vision 2030 strategy, aligning subsea and terrestrial expansion with current and future data centre locations and designing resilience in from day one.
